This year marks the tenth year Karen Goens has been a singer with Whatcom Sound Jazz. Over these years, the talent and quality of directors, musical guests, accompanists and singers has been stunning!
WSJ offers rich, rewarding jazz musical experience and education for singers and unique vocal jazz performances for the community.

Jill A. Likkel, Alto 1 joined WSJ in Fall, 2020. Our rehearsals were limited to computer, and later separately in our cars. The first time singing together in the same space outdoors last spring was amazing. Jill loves jazz!! Jill has been a past member of The Kulshan Chorus, the Whatcom Chorale and the Bellingham Festival of music chorus. She continues to sing with the Pacific Northwest Opera chorus since 2007. A sometimes actor and director, she aslo has a day job as an acupuncturist. Her "spare" time is taken up by her dog Sig.

Diane Arvin is an Alto 2 and is nearly an original member of WSJ

Diane Leigh sang with WSJ in its early years and returned this season. She is enjoying her Alto II part. She also studies jazz and blues piano and plays and sings with several bands around town. Jazz chords and harmony are a few of her favorite things!
